Pappu Yadav stages unusual Parliament protest against Bihar police

In a striking visual statement, Pappu Yadav entered the Parliament complex on Tuesday wrapped in a head bandage, sporting a bandaged hand and bearing a large staff. The sight caused a stir among security staff and fellow parliamentarians.

Officials barred him from moving forward with the staff, after which Yadav addressed the media, stating that his appearance was a non‑violent, symbolic act of dissent against the police crackdown on students protesting the NEET paper leak.

“The stick is my shield. I cannot predict when the government will decide to silence dissent. I am here to highlight the treatment of Bihar’s students today,” he asserted.

Yadav alleged that law‑enforcement agencies employed excessive force, even mentioning the use of AK‑47 rifles on student protesters, and that girls were beaten with sticks.

He also directed sharp criticism at the Union Education Minister, claiming that instead of penalising those responsible for the leak, the minister was being lauded, which he deemed a disrespect to Mithila’s heritage.

The MP expanded his criticism to senior opposition leaders, accusing the government of targeting those who raise concerns about student rights, thereby fostering a climate of fear across the nation.

The protest coincided with intensive opposition debates during the monsoon session, where several MPs demanded answers from Home Minister Amit Shah on the implementation of the 2026 amendment to curb malpractice in public examinations.
