Weather Department Issues Orange Alerts for Northern Hill Regions

Northern hill districts across Uttarakhand are under heightened vigilance after IMD released orange alerts for severe rain events. The forecasts indicate that rainfall intensity could exceed 100 mm per hour in some high-altitude zones, raising serious concerns about soil erosion and debris flows. Emergency response teams have been placed on standby, and the public has been cautioned to keep away from riverbanks and steep slopes during night hours.

While the hills grapple with these dangers, the plains to the south are also bracing for significant moisture. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are experiencing scattered showers, with temperature drops making the weather more bearable after weeks of oppressive heat. The IMD advises that the rain will gradually taper off after a four‑day period, but vigilance remains essential throughout the affected regions.
