No Fuel Price Hike as Crude Touches $88 per Barrel
Crude oil touched the $88 mark per barrel on Monday, yet Indian motorists will not feel a price hike at the pump. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas kept the retail rates for both petrol and diesel unchanged across the nation.
The capital city records petrol at Rs 102.12 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.20 per litre. In the western region, Mumbai’s rates stand at Rs 111.21 and Rs 97.83, while Kolkata in the east shows Rs 113.51 for petrol and Rs 99.82 for diesel. Southern and central cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Bhopal also report steady numbers.
Industry observers caution that if the current geopolitical flashpoint continues to drive up crude costs, oil marketing companies may have to revise the ceiling, potentially affecting commuters, fleet operators and businesses that depend on road freight.
