Neelam Devi Must Leave Mall Road Govt Bungalow by November 25
The Bihar government has directed former Mokama MLA Neelam Devi to vacate her government accommodation on Mall Road in Patna. She has been given time until November 25, 2026, to move out, following the cancellation of her membership of a state-level committee.
The directive came through an official letter from the Building Construction Department. According to the letter, Neelam Devi was allotted the residence on May 19, 2026, after being appointed a member of the State-Level Programme Implementation Committee. The post carried the status of a deputy minister.
A notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat Department on October 26, 2026, under number 578, cancelled her nomination to the committee with immediate effect. With the end of her tenure, the government said she is no longer entitled to the official residence beyond the permitted period.
Under Rule 11(2) of the Patna Central Pool Residence Allotment Rules, 1986, a former occupant may stay for one month after tenure ends. That period concludes on November 25, 2026. The Joint Secretary cum Estate Officer has therefore requested that she vacate the accommodation by this date.
Party disciplinary action
The JDU had already expelled Mokama MLA Anant Singh and his wife, Neelam Devi, from the party for six years. The decision was linked to allegations of anti-party activities. Anant Singh's primary party membership was also terminated immediately.
In a statement, Umesh Singh Kushwaha, president of the JDU's Bihar unit, said Anant Singh had not followed party directions. The party also alleged that he used derogatory language against the top leadership and campaigned for an opposition candidate.
Support for Jan Suraaj in Council polls
In the recent Bihar Legislative Council elections, Anant Singh backed Jan Suraaj Party candidate Anuj Singh. He campaigned on his behalf and voiced a wish for the defeat of JDU Legislative Council member Neeraj Kumar. The party considered these actions indiscipline, which ultimately led to his expulsion.
