Navratri Boat Accident Highlights Water Safety Gaps in Bihar

The recent boat accident in Raghopur, Vaishali, occurred despite a district order that bans boat operations after sunset. Thirteen bodies, nine of them girls under fifteen, were recovered, while six survivors were rescued and taken to NMCH in Patna for treatment.

District Magistrate Varsha Singh confirmed that the boat was privately registered and that the operator, owner, and responsible officials will face strict action. The incident has reignited calls for stricter enforcement of safety protocols during religious festivities that involve water rituals.
