Naugachia Police Officer Yogesh's Body Found in Government Quarter
A police officer from the Naugachia police district in Bhagalpur, Bihar, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Saturday. His body was discovered hanging inside his government quarter, prompting a police investigation and sending ripples of grief through the force.
The deceased, Yogesh Kumar, had recently been elevated from jamadar to inspector. Police have not yet established the reason for his death.
Morning Discovery Triggers Alarm
Around 6 am on Saturday, a colleague arrived at Yogesh Kumar's government quarter and found him hanging. The colleague was shocked and immediately informed the police line and senior officers about the incident.
Word of the incident spread rapidly within the department. Naugachia SP Vaibhav Sharma, SDPO Saim Raza and a headquarters DSP were among the officials who rushed to the spot. They examined the scene and started gathering information about the case.
The police secured the area and initiated the investigative process. It is still unclear under what conditions Yogesh Kumar lost his life, and the police are weighing all possible aspects.
A Rising Career Cut Short
Yogesh Kumar hailed from Barahat in the Bausi block of Banka district. He was serving in the crime branch of the Naugachia SP office and lived alone in a government quarter within the police line.
His departmental promotion from jamadar to inspector had been recognised with a felicitation ceremony. SP Vaibhav Sharma had personally pinned the new inspector's badge on him and offered his congratulations.
The news of his death, arriving only days after this moment of pride, has left his colleagues and the department stunned. Still, there has been no official conclusion regarding what led to the tragedy.
Evidence Collected, Answers Awaited
To handle the sensitive case, police secured the site and called in a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team. The team visited the location, carried out an examination and collected necessary evidence.
Investigators are using this evidence to understand the circumstances of the incident. Suicide is among the possibilities being considered, along with other potential factors, but the cause of death has not yet been verified.
The postmortem report and the ongoing probe are expected to provide further details. An attempt to contact SP Vaibhav Sharma was made, but his phone could not be reached. The exact reason behind Yogesh Kumar's death will become clear only after the investigation concludes.
