Muzaffarpur Tragedy: Youth's Body Recovered Two Days After Leaving Home

A distressing incident has shaken the Musahari area of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. On Sunday, the body of a 22-year-old man was retrieved from the Burhi Gandak river near Rajwara Dih. The discovery spread anxiety through the neighbourhood, and the victim's relatives were left devastated.

The deceased has been named as Ayush Chandra, son of Chandeshwar Rai, a resident of Sadatpur village in the Kanti police station area. Following recovery, police took charge of the body and forwarded it to SKMCH for postmortem.

Relatives told police that on the night of October 23, Ayush's father scolded him for using his mobile phone late at night. The scolding led to a tense exchange between father and son. Angered by the episode, Ayush stepped out of his home at about 8 am on October 24 and jumped into the Burhi Gandak river.

A villager discovered the body the following Sunday morning while heading to the river. After seeing the body floating in the water, he alerted those around him, and villagers then informed the police. Musahari police reached the location with personnel, and with help from local divers, the body was taken out of the river.

Since the body had remained submerged for a long time, it had swollen considerably, complicating early identification. The identity was eventually established through clothing and other means.

SDPO Purvi-2 Manoj Kumar Singh confirmed that a youth's body had been recovered from the Gandak river near Rajwara Dhab and that the person had been identified. He stated that the body had been sent for postmortem to SKMCH. He also said police are probing both murder and suicide angles in detail. The true cause of death will only be known after the postmortem report arrives and the probe advances.
