According to police statements, the gang members would linger near ATMs and wait for a customer to insert a card. When the user stepped away, they would jam a makeshift device into the slot, causing the card to get stuck. They then scribbled their own phone number over the machine's customer‑care contact, convincing the victim that the bank would retrieve the card. As soon as the customer left, the criminals extracted the genuine card and later used black cards to produce clones for cash withdrawals.
