Mughal-era Kotwali Mosque Implements New Friday Prayer Arrangements

Patna's historic Kotwali Mosque, managed by the Sunni Waqf Board, is adjusting its congregational prayer locations. Established roughly 400 years ago, the mosque shares a boundary with the Kotwali police station. Due to limited space, worshippers traditionally used the police compound for Friday services. Following an inquiry by local authorities prompted by a citizen's complaint, the mosque committee, community elders, and police officials have decided to limit the prayers to the mosque’s own premises. The transition was handled peacefully, with the Muslim community cooperating with the administration's request. To facilitate the change, the mosque has prepared an additional area to the right of the main structure, ensuring that devotees can continue to pray safely without entering the police facility.
