Mother Accused of Hiding Daughter’s Death; Police Unearth Remains Under Mango Plant

In a grim development from Muzaffarpur, police have recovered the body of a 19‑year‑old teacher after it was allegedly concealed beneath a mango plant by her own mother. The victim, who taught at a private school in Rampar, Yaraipar block, was reportedly involved in a love affair with a fellow instructor. Her mother claims that the public exposure of the relationship led the daughter to commit suicide.

Local residents raised suspicions that the corpse had been buried in a garden and that a mango sapling was subsequently planted to mask the burial. Acting on these leads, officers arrived at the site, pumped out water that had accumulated due to recent rains, and spent roughly eight to ten hours digging through the saturated soil. The remains were then handed over to forensic specialists for a detailed examination.

The mother, her sister, and two young men have been placed in custody for questioning. While the mother maintains a suicide explanation, investigators have not ruled out homicide. The probe is being directed by SDPO Alay Vats, with assistance from the forensic science laboratory.

The final determination of the cause of death will depend on the forthcoming post‑mortem and forensic findings. Police continue to explore all angles as the case unfolds.
