Massive 132-Foot Mobile Tower Disappears in Buxar Heist

The state of Bihar is witnessing yet another incredible case of infrastructure theft as a 132-foot mobile tower was reportedly stolen in Buxar district. The heist, which targeted a tower located in a populated residential area of Dumraon, involved the systematic dismantling of the steel structure over several days. Along with the tower, thieves also made off with a heavy-duty generator and essential electronic equipment, leaving the telecom company with a significant financial loss. The theft was discovered only when representatives from the telecom infrastructure firm visited the site to inspect the equipment. To their utter disbelief, the tower, which had been non-functional for some time, was completely gone. Local residents informed the police that they had seen workers at the site for nearly twenty days, but since the activity appeared organized, no one questioned the legitimacy of the operation. The thieves took advantage of this public indifference to slowly disassemble the 132-foot giant. Police officials are currently interrogating the landowner, who had been in a legal tussle with the company over unpaid lease amounts since 2022. While the company alleges a high-stakes robbery, investigators are looking into all possibilities, including the involvement of professional scrap dealers who specialize in heavy metal dismantling. This incident adds to a growing list of unusual thefts in the region where large-scale public and private infrastructure has been targeted by organized gangs.
