Samastipur Sky Drop: Made in Korea Device Sparks Village Alarm
A strange device that appeared to fall from the sky has created a stir in a village of Samastipur district in Bihar. The gadget, marked "Made in Korea" and emitting an LED-like light, was found near a house in Belsandi Deeh, prompting a crowd to gather and police to get involved.
The incident happened in the evening at the residence of Banshidhar Mishra, located in ward number 4 of Bajidpur Bambaiya panchayat. Residents said the object suddenly came down and landed at his door. The device showed a digital or LED-type glow, and a parachute-like cord was attached to it, reportedly measuring between 200 and 350 meters.
Villagers who examined the device noticed the foreign inscription and the attached cord. The unusual features led to a wave of speculation. Some people suspected the gadget was a spying tool, while others feared it might be used to keep watch over the area.
After receiving information, the police reached the spot. A Dial 112 team took the device into possession and transported it to the police station. No evidence has so far surfaced that links the device to any kind of espionage or surveillance.
Daroga Arshad Imam Ansari said the preliminary findings point toward a radiosonde used by the India Meteorological Department. A radiosonde is launched into the atmosphere with a weather balloon to record temperature, air pressure, humidity and wind speed. The information gathered is useful for weather forecasting and for understanding atmospheric conditions.
When such a balloon bursts at high altitude, the instrument attached to it can fall to the ground. Parachutes are sometimes included to reduce the speed of descent. The cord found with the device in Belsandi Deeh has strengthened the view that it is a meteorological instrument.
The matter has been forwarded to higher authorities, and police have begun a detailed inquiry. Officials are working to establish what the device was used for, where it was launched, and how it reached a village in Samastipur. Until these questions are answered, villagers remain curious and watchful.
