LPG Supply Worries Grow as Tensions Persist in West Asia
The uncertainty surrounding crude oil is mirrored in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sector. Recent flare‑ups between the United States and Iran, combined with attacks near the Strait of Hormuz, have revived fears of supply chain disruptions for LPG imports.
India had recently improved LPG availability, prompting the government on September 7 to reduce the mandatory booking gap for rural consumers from 45 days to 25 days. Yet, the renewed geopolitical strain has reignited concerns about the continuity of cylinder deliveries. To mitigate risk, the government is accelerating domestic LPG production, aiming to lower dependence on vulnerable import routes.
Consumers should monitor official announcements for any changes in cylinder pricing or allocation policies as the situation evolves.
