Despite the present dry spell, forecasters are optimistic that a new low‑pressure area will develop over the Bay of Bengal between 13 and 15 July. This system should drift westward, re‑energising the monsoon flow and bringing substantial rain back to eastern and central India.
Experts predict that the second half of July could see near‑normal monsoon rainfall across the country. Eastern states are likely to receive above‑normal totals, while the north‑west, western and southern zones may continue to see below‑normal amounts. Overall, the national July rainfall average is expected to stay close to climatological norms.
