Latest LPG cylinder rates released; see city‑wise prices

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas published the newest LPG cylinder tariffs for both domestic (14.2 kg) and commercial (19 kg) variants. The rates come amid a backdrop of crude oil climbing back above $80 a barrel.

Under a pending levy of Rs 1.29 per kilogram on LPG, the price of a standard domestic cylinder could climb by roughly Rs 18, according to Reuters. The levy aims to generate funds for expanding India's strategic energy reserves, including a first‑time natural‑gas stockpile and a six‑week buffer of LPG.

Current city‑level prices are as follows: Lucknow – Rs 979.50 (domestic), Rs 2,860.50 (commercial); Noida – Rs 939.50, Rs 2,738.00; New Delhi – Rs 942.00, Rs 2,738.00; Mumbai – Rs 941.50, Rs 2,691.50; Kolkata – Rs 968.00, Rs 2,872.50; Chennai – Rs 957.50, Rs 2,906.00. Other metros such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Gurgaon fall within the Rs 940‑Rs 995 domestic range.

Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on 6 August, with Delhi quoting Rs 102.12 per litre for petrol and Rs 95.20 for diesel. CNG rates stayed stable, Delhi’s at Rs 83.09 per kilogram.

The proposed levy, if enacted, would modestly raise cooking‑gas costs while feeding a fund to improve national energy security.
