JDU Posters Spark Buzz: Lalan Singh Absent, Neeraj Kumar Speaks

Political attention in Bihar has turned to the Janata Dal (United) after its congratulatory posters for MLC election winners left out senior leader Lalan Singh. The development has raised questions about the party's unity ahead of the next political phase.

The Bihar Legislative Council polls for eight seats concluded with clear results. The NDA secured three seats, with the BJP winning two and the JDU one. The BJP's wins came from the Tirhut teacher constituency, where Narendra Singh won, and the Kosi graduate constituency, where N K Yadav was elected.

The JDU's win came from the Patna graduate seat, where Neeraj Kumar was successful. The RJD, the main opposition party, also won two seats, with Sanjeev Kumar taking the Patna teacher seat and Anil Jha winning the Darbhanga graduate seat.

Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party secured the Darbhanga teacher seat through Suresh Rai. Two independent candidates were also victorious, Vanshidhar Brijwasi in the Tirhut graduate seat and Rahul Raj in the Saran teacher seat.

Amid this result-based discussion, the JDU's posters drew separate attention for excluding Lalan Singh. Several party members are believed to have viewed the move as significant, given earlier speculation linked to Anant Singh's rebellion against the party and Sanjay Jha during the election campaign.

Speculation had grown within the party that Anant Singh's outspoken stance had been backed by Lalan Singh. Lalan Singh had also described Anant Singh's revolt as a reaction opposite to action, saying a clap is never produced with one hand.

Neeraj Kumar's comments after his win have added another layer, as he said he had not received a congratulatory message from Lalan Singh. The coming days are likely to show whether the questions surrounding the JDU's internal calculations are resolved or deepen further.
