Investor Outlook Shifts as Gold Holds Near Seven‑Week High, Silver Drops

Gold is hovering close to its highest level in the past seven weeks, sparking interest among investors looking for a hedge against market turbulence. On Thursday, the metal was priced at $4,468.90 per ounce on COMEX, after a modest rise, while silver fell to $65.55 per ounce, down 0.23%.

Domestic figures from the MCX reflected similar dynamics, with gold trading at Rs 1,54,900 for 10 grams and silver at Rs 2,37,500 per kilogram. City‑level gold rates showed modest variation, the highest 24‑karat price appearing in Delhi at Rs 1,55,010 and the lowest in Jaipur at Rs 1,50,100. Silver’s per‑kilogram rates ranged from Rs 2,66,900 in Kolkata to Rs 2,78,900 in Ahmedabad.

The price action is being driven by a combination of softer oil prices, a weaker US dollar after inflation data met expectations, and the market’s watchful eye on the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy meeting. Commodity analyst Ajay Kedia highlighted that gold’s settlement figure rose 0.73% to 154,882 points, bolstered by the dollar’s decline.

Financial advisers caution against large, single‑ticket investments in precious metals at the moment. Instead, they suggest spreading purchases over time through systematic investment plans, which can smooth out the effect of short‑term price swings while preserving upside potential.
