Investigation Launched After Bihar Police Officer Injures Soldier with Gunshot

Authorities in Vaishali district have begun a formal investigation after a police sub‑inspector allegedly shot an army serviceman during a drunken confrontation. The incident occurred near the Hajipur‑Muzzaffarpur stretch of NH‑22 when the soldier arrived to help a broken‑down vehicle. The officer, identified as Deepak Kumar, grabbed the soldier’s throat and fired. Forensic Science Laboratory teams collected a spent cartridge case and the pistol’s magazine at the scene. The police recovered a liquor bottle from the car, underscoring the breach of Bihar’s prohibition rules. The officer is now in police custody pending further inquiry.
