A detailed probe into the fire at Prasad Hospital in Muzaffarpur has uncovered shocking safety violations, leading to the immediate cancellation of its operating license. Authorities found that emergency exits were chained shut and fire extinguishers were non-functional when the blaze erupted on the fifth floor. Director General of Fire Services Shobha Ahotkar stated that the victims died from asphyxiation due to a lack of ventilation. While 31 patients were rescued and moved to other facilities, six individuals succumbed to the toxic smoke. The district administration has vowed to conduct safety audits of all private medical facilities in the region to prevent further tragedies.
