Investigation Launched After 22‑Year‑Old Killed in Hajipur Bike Attack
The Hajipur police have opened a formal investigation after a 22‑year‑old student was murdered on a six‑lane bridge connecting Kacchi Dargah and Bidupur. Anshuman Kumar, a 12th‑grade student, was riding his bike when a gang of men allegedly surrounded him and opened fire.
According to family members, the young man was merely sightseeing and taking photos on the newly constructed bridge when the attack occurred. His cousin Gaurav Kumar claims that the assailants first rammed the bike with a four‑wheeler, knocked him down, and then shot him several times.
On arrival, the police recovered three live rounds embedded in the victim’s torso and three spent casings. Forensic teams are processing the evidence, and officers are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to pinpoint the suspects.
The body has been handed over to Hajipur Sadar Hospital for a post‑mortem. The event has caused palpable tension in the area, with local residents gathering and demanding answers.
In addition to the homicide, a separate road‑accident on the same bridge was reported, leaving another individual injured. Both cases are being investigated in parallel.
Authorities have yet to ascertain a clear motive, the exact number of attackers, or the type of vehicle involved in the collision. They have assured the public that once the culprits are identified, they will face the full force of the law.
