India’s Fuel Prices Unchanged on August 20 Despite Rising Global Oil

The latest fuel bulletin issued on August 20 confirms that India’s retail petrol and diesel prices have not moved despite a surge in global oil prices triggered by escalating tensions in West Asia.

Crude benchmarks are trading at elevated levels: Brent at $91.87 per barrel and WTI at $85.81. Such pricing keeps import costs high for the country, yet oil marketing companies have chosen to keep the current tariffs.

Current rates: Delhi – Petrol ₹102.12/L, Diesel ₹95.20/L; Mumbai – Petrol ₹111.21/L, Diesel ₹97.83/L. The same pricing structure applies to other key cities, with figures as follows: - Lucknow: Petrol ₹101.86, Diesel ₹95.36 - Noida: Petrol ₹102.12, Diesel ₹95.44 - Kolkata: Petrol ₹113.51, Diesel ₹99.82 - Chennai: Petrol ₹107.76, Diesel ₹99.55 - Bengaluru: Petrol ₹111.37, Diesel ₹99.56 - Hyderabad: Petrol ₹115.69, Diesel ₹103.82 - Jaipur: Petrol ₹112.66, Diesel ₹97.78 - Ahmedabad: Petrol ₹101.79, Diesel ₹97.91 - Gurgaon: Petrol ₹102.97, Diesel ₹95.64 - Pune: Petrol ₹112.02, Diesel ₹98.66 - Patna: Petrol ₹113.34, Diesel ₹99.80 - Bhopal: Petrol ₹114.37, Diesel ₹100.10 - Chandigarh: Petrol ₹101.54, Diesel ₹94.30

The previous major hike was recorded in May, when both fuels rose by more than ₹7 per litre. While OMCs have not yet transferred the full cost of higher crude to end‑users, analysts warn that sustained crude prices above $90 could force a future revision.

Market participants are advised to watch global oil developments and domestic policy cues closely.
