India Braces for Intense Storms as IMD Issues Alerts for Multiple Regions on August 4

The nation is on high alert as the India Meteorological Department releases a warning for severe storms on August 4. Wind velocities may climb up to 70 km per hour, while thunderstorms are forecasted to batter 19 states across the country.

Metropolitan areas such as Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram are among the zones flagged for heavy rainfall. In the Himalayan foothills, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand could face both strong winds and sudden hail showers.

Emergency response teams have been mobilised, and local administrations are advising the public to stay away from coastal and riverine regions that are vulnerable to flash floods. Power outages and disruptions to transport services are also possible.

The storm originates from a deepening low‑pressure cell over the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to move north‑westward, feeding the system with abundant moisture. Continuous updates will be provided by the IMD throughout the day.
