IMD Issues Storm Warning for North and East India on July 29

The Indian Meteorological Department has released a storm warning across northern and eastern India for July 29. Wind speeds are projected at 70 km per hour, accompanied by torrential rain and thunderstorm activity in a total of 17 states.

Key impact zones include Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Rajasthan. In these areas, the combination of high winds and intense rain may lead to localized flooding, disruption of power supply and transportation delays.

Government agencies have issued advisories to restrict non‑essential travel, secure construction sites and ensure that drainage systems are clear. Citizens should stay indoors during the peak period of the storm and follow guidance from local authorities.
