A woman from Bhagalpur, Bihar, ended her life by hanging. Shockingly, she took this drastic step in front of her husband and daughter. The husband was allegedly inciting her while filming the act. The daughter cried as she witnessed her mother’s final moments, while the husband appeared to be encouraging the suicide. The woman, originally from Kahalgaon, lived in Delhi with her husband and daughter. Reports suggest that financial troubles, specifically a debt of four lakh rupees taken from a finance company, led to her despair. The couple frequently argued over the loan, which caused her distress.
A live video of the suicide has surfaced, showing the deceased woman’s husband seemingly goading her to take her life. The video also captured the daughter’s voice as she cried. In the 1 minute and 12-second video, the woman used a box and a bucket to create a noose with a piece of cloth from a ceiling fan hook, and then hanged herself. The husband silenced his daughter’s cries during the incident. The event occurred within the jurisdiction of the Ghaziabad police station in Delhi.
Chandni Devi (31), a resident of Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur, was identified as the deceased. She married Vidyanand Rai, son of Sunil Rai, a resident of the Pipra police station area in Muzaffarpur district, 12 years ago. Recently, she had taken a loan of approximately four lakh rupees from a microfinance institution. Her husband, Vidyanand, was unable to repay the loan, and they were under constant pressure from finance company employees to pay it back. Chandni Devi would often argue with her husband about the loan, leading to her tragic decision.
According to Rakesh Mandal, the deceased’s brother, his sister’s brother-in-law informed them about the death. He added that they were now receiving threats, warning them not to come to Delhi. The deceased was the mother of three children, the youngest being 5 years old. The family is in deep mourning following the incident. The woman’s body has been kept in the mortuary. The police have arrested the accused husband. However, the family has not yet filed a written complaint, seemingly out of fear, and are hesitant to approach the Ghaziabad police station.
