Hijra Gang Robs, Bites Passenger on Dhanbad-Bengaluru Train

Passenger safety on Indian Railways faces renewed questions after a violent confrontation on the Dhanbad-Bengaluru Sampark Kranti Express (12296). A cohort of five hijras illegally boarded a general coach near Ragunathpur station in Bihar and began extorting money from travelers.

The incident unfolded on November 2 when the group approached passengers demanding cash. Twenty-year-old Majid Alam politely refused, explaining his tight financial situation. His decision triggered a violent outburst from the gang.

The suspects physically assaulted Alam, delivering severe bites that left him bleeding, before forcibly taking ₹1,500 from his person.

The Buxar Railway Police acted swiftly upon learning of the assault. They registered an FIR at the Buxar station and mobilized a rapid response team. Within hours, the police tracked down and apprehended all five accused individuals.

The named suspects include Rubel alias Soniya, Tauun alias Sumya, Azhar alias Khushi, Banu alias Chamapa, and Meraaj alias Bijli.

Investigation reveals that the accused operate from the Bihia region in Bhojpur district. Law enforcement recovered the full stolen amount during the raid. The case is now proceeding through the judicial system as authorities work to prevent similar incidents on the railway network.
