State Announces High-Tech Enclosures and Digital Displays for New Bodh Gaya Zoo

The Bihar government has revealed technical specifics for the upcoming Bodh Gaya zoo, emphasizing cutting‑edge enclosure design and visitor information systems. The project, earmarked at 200 crore rupees, targets a 2028 inauguration.

Each animal habitat will be enclosed by reinforced glass, providing an unobstructed view while ensuring safety. Outside every enclosure, smart digital display boards will present species details, feeding schedules, and conservation messages in both Hindi and English.

The animal roster will feature more than fifty species, ranging from big cats like lions and tigers to large herbivores such as giraffes and elephants, as well as bears, leopards, crocodiles, peacocks, and numerous bird varieties. The Central Zoo Authority in Delhi has asked the Bihar Forest Department to submit a 15‑point clarification covering expanded enclosure areas, species‑specific layout, and parking provisions. The department must deliver the technical report by the 10th of the month, after which a no‑objection certificate could be granted within two months.

Visitor amenities will include online ticket purchases, QR‑code scanning, distinct entry and exit points, and dedicated parking zones for cars, buses, and two‑wheelers. Complementary services such as e‑rickshaws, water coolers, ATMs, gender‑segregated restrooms, seating, sheltered waiting areas, and a food court will be available. The complex will also host a nature‑play area, children’s park, and interactive wildlife sessions to promote environmental awareness.
