Heavy rainfall expected in Rajasthan, Kerala, UP and more: IMD alert

The India Meteorological Department has issued an extensive alert covering thirteen states, with particular emphasis on heavy rainfall in Rajasthan, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh.

A low‑pressure trough stretching from South Gujarat to central Kerala keeps the southwest monsoon vigorous, feeding moisture into rain‑producing clouds across the region. Tamil Nadu may also witness intermittent showers.

Rajasthan’s districts have already received substantial rain, and the Kota and Bharatpur divisions are projected to endure very heavy downpours. The most intense phase is expected to subside after July 11.

Kerala remains under an Orange Alert for Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad, while six additional districts hold Yellow alerts as the deluge continues.

Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Sambhal and Badaun districts face very heavy to extremely heavy rain, with a predicted temperature drop of 2‑4 °C over the next few days.

Bihar’s Patna, Gaya, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur districts are also on watch for heavy rain and thunderstorms.

In Delhi‑NCR, light rain is expected on July 10‑11, leading to a Yellow alert and temperatures near 34 °C.

Uttarakhand stays under Red and Orange alerts due to flash‑flood and landslide risks, while Himachal Pradesh is on a Yellow alert until mid‑July.

The Nilgiris and nearby Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu may receive moderate rain with strong winds, and Chennai will experience cloudy conditions with light showers.
