Government Waste: Unused Bridge Stands Between Crops in Bihar

In an eye-opening case of governmental mismanagement, a newly built bridge now sits idle among Bihar's paddy fields. The project, carried out in the Keshariya region of Motihari district, cost several lakh rupees but has no river, road, or nearby population to serve.

A second bridge erected in Betouna village of Patahi block suffered a similar fate, as it was never connected to the main highway. The local community had provided land for an approach road, donating 100 metres of soil on both sides, yet the middle section remained blocked due to unresolved land-ownership issues.

Compounding the problem, the access path received no proper paving—neither brickwork nor concrete was laid—leaving the bridge inaccessible to any vehicle.
