From Jamui to Gaya: Rising Assaults on Young Couples Spark Outcry

Recent weeks have seen a troubling pattern of harassment targeting young couples across Bihar. After high‑profile incidents in Jamui and Samastipur, a fresh video from Gaya's Sherghati region has ignited fresh public concern. The footage shows two young adults being accosted by a group of local youths, subjected to verbal abuse and a physical beating.

The attackers questioned why the couple was on the hill, used a wooden stick to intimidate them, and ultimately seized the bike's key, deflating the tyre as a form of intimidation. The encounter was recorded by the perpetrators themselves and later shared online, prompting a rapid police investigation.

Law enforcement agencies have filed an FIR and apprehended two of the suspects. The Gaya SSP highlighted that the case will proceed based on the victim's statements and video evidence. Community leaders are calling for stronger measures to protect pair outings and curb such unlawful behavior.
