Tragedy struck Sultanpur’s NH-80 main road in Bhagalpur district when a speeding car belonging to a local mukhia lost control at Dilgouri Mor and crashed into a roadside stall. One fatality and eight injuries, including four in critical condition, mark this horrific mishap.
The four-wheeler, hurtling towards Bhagalpur, failed to negotiate the curve. It slammed into the shop with such force that the structure partially collapsed, injuring everyone nearby. Nitesh Mishra from Narayanpur died while being transported for treatment.
Rescue efforts by brave locals turned the scene into a frenzy of activity. They extracted the trapped victims before police and ambulances arrived. The injured roster includes prominent Tilakpur Panchayat head Amit Kumar, whose car was involved, alongside Amit Kumar of Mirzapur, Chandan Thakur, Piyush Kumar, Lalit Yadav, and one unknown person.
Initial aid at Sultanpur Referral Hospital proved insufficient for the seriously hurt, who were shifted to Mayaganj Hospital. SHO Mrityunjay Kumar’s team has impounded the vehicle and launched a thorough inquiry into the crash’s factors—be it rash driving, road conditions, or vehicle faults.
As the death toll stands at one, this accident serves as a grim reminder of highway perils in Bihar. Enhanced speed checks and better road safety infrastructure are desperately needed to safeguard lives.
