Family Grieves After 22‑Year‑Old’s Fatal Suicide Ahead of Diwali

A tragic loss struck a family in Rangila Bigha, Nalanda, as 22‑year‑old Vikram Kumar chose to end his life during a video call with his wife, just before the Diwali celebrations.

Vikram, the son of Rajendra Yadav, earned his livelihood driving an electric rickshaw. He had married Preeti Kumari from Rajouli, Nawada two years ago, and the pair had a one‑year‑old child. Preeti had been staying at her natal home for approximately fifteen days and had not yet returned.

As the major festivals of Diwali and Chhath drew near, Vikram repeatedly asked his wife to rejoin him and their infant to share the festive moments. Preeti’s response—that she could only come back after about two months—led to an escalating argument conducted over phone calls.

During a Saturday night video call, Vikram suddenly committed suicide. His wife, shocked, quickly warned nearby villagers. They forced open the sealed bedroom door, lowered the body, and rushed it to Vardhman Ayurvedic Institute in Pawapuri, where medical personnel confirmed his death.

The local police, headed by Inspector Pramod Kumar, seized Vikram’s mobile phone, discovering a video recorded just before the incident. The corpse has been sent for a post‑mortem, and further legal proceedings will be initiated based on a written petition from the bereaved family.
