Fake TET Marksheet Row: Teacher Served 12 Years, FIR Lodged
An alleged case of job fraud involving a forged Teacher Eligibility Test marksheet has surfaced in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district. A female teacher is accused of converting her 2011 TET score of 50 into 90 and using the altered document to get a teaching position, which she reportedly held for 12 years.
The Vigilance Investigation Bureau's inquiry led to the registration of an FIR after discrepancies were found between the marksheet and the official records maintained by the Bihar School Examination Board.
Background of the case
The teacher, Gyanti Kumari, is posted at Primary School Paigambarpur Hanuman in the Minapur block. In addition to her, several unidentified persons have been made accused, based on the findings of the vigilance probe. Police are now reviewing the documents that were submitted at the time of her appointment and the examination records linked to them.
Court-directed review
The Patna High Court had ordered a review of the teacher's academic certificates and appointment documents, and this responsibility was assigned to the Vigilance Investigation Bureau. As part of the review, the 2011 TET marksheet was checked against records held by the Bihar School Examination Board in Patna.
Mismatch in marks
The verification showed that while the teacher's marksheet recorded 90 marks, the board's records for the same roll number showed only 50. Investigators said the candidate had not qualified on the basis of these marks, but the marksheet was allegedly presented with the higher score.
Appointment under scrutiny
According to the probe, the teacher secured the post of untrained teacher in 2014 under the Gram Panchayat Planning Unit Paigambarpur. The authenticity of her marksheet and the job obtained on its basis have now been brought into question.
Complaint and investigation
An FIR was filed at Siwaipatti police station following a complaint by Diwakar Kumar Dinkar, an inspector with the Vigilance Investigation Bureau. The investigation has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Suryaprakash Ranjan, who will compare the appointment documents, the TET marksheet, and the original board records.
