Civil engineering experts have sounded the alarm on the Munger‑Mirzachauki four‑lane project after a noticeable fissure and soil settlement were observed on the newly laid pavement. According to specialists, inadequate compaction of the sub‑grade and poor embankment reinforcement can lead to surface cracks soon after construction.

The crack, measuring about two inches in width and extending roughly 40 metres, appeared near the villages of Gangania and Ghorghat. Observers also reported that the soil along the road edges is progressively moving inward, a sign that the foundation may be unstable. If left unresolved, the defect could evolve into a larger failure once heavy traffic commences.

Authorities from NHAI have responded by directing the contractor to cease any patch‑work and consider a complete removal and reconstruction of the compromised panel if the investigation uncovers serious negligence. The experts stress that strict adherence to design standards and vigilant post‑construction monitoring are essential to avoid costly rework and safety hazards.
