Double Murder Shocks Rajasan Village; Police Launch Massive Manhunt

Rajasan village in Vaishali district was rocked by a double homicide on Sunday morning when a land‑access disagreement erupted into gunfire. Jagdish Rai, a young local, shot his uncle Munarik Rai and his cousin Sub‑Lieutenant Jitendra Kumar, an Indian Army officer, killing both.

The two victims, a retired villager and an active‑duty soldier, were relatives who had traveled to the village after a recent family tragedy. Their deaths have sent shockwaves through the community, which is still reeling from the loss.

According to eyewitnesses, the argument began on Saturday over a pathway traversing a disputed property. Police intervened that evening and managed to calm the parties temporarily. On Sunday, the accused allegedly reignited the dispute, produced a pistol and opened fire on his uncle and cousin.

Munarik Rai died on the spot. Jitendra Kumar was taken to Hajipur Sadar Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead after emergency treatment.

Following the incident, the Bidupur police station, together with senior officials, secured the area, recovered spent cartridges, and initiated a village‑wide search operation. The suspect fled his home, locking the doors behind him, and is believed to be hiding in a nearby locality.

Superintendent of Police Shubhank Mishra visited the hospital, expressed condolences to the families and ordered a coordinated raid on possible hideouts. Police have assured residents that they are employing all available resources to bring the accused before the courts.
