A love affair turned deadly in Rohtas, Bihar, when a physically challenged youth was savagely killed by his lover’s in-laws after a clandestine midnight meeting. The 28-year-old victim, identified as Shailendra Kumar Singh, was one-legged and defenseless against the violent ambush.
Residing in Baradhi village, Shailendra’s secret relationship with married Ragini Mishra had been ongoing for years. Family sources reveal that late Saturday night, Ragini phoned him, inviting him to her house. Blinded by passion, he arrived without suspicion, only to walk into a trap set by her relatives.
Daddu Mishra, Ragini’s husband, along with family members, ambushed Shailendra the moment he stepped into the bedroom. His disability left him helpless as the group unleashed a brutal beating with lathis and sticks. He succumbed to the injuries right there, his body left drenched in blood.
The discovery came at dawn when police arrived following a distress call from Shailendra’s father to emergency services. The Mufassil police team took custody of the corpse, dispatching it to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for autopsy. In a rapid response, they nabbed Daddu Mishra and filed an FIR under homicide sections.
Police are probing the involvement of additional family members, with initial evidence suggesting blunt force trauma as the cause of death. The full postmortem will dictate the next legal moves.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the risks entangled in extramarital affairs, sparking community outrage and calls for stricter law enforcement in such sensitive matters.
