Community Demands Immediate Dismissal of Accused Teacher in Bihar School

Following a reported assault on a sixth‑grade learner at the government‑run Uttkramit Middle School in Sirisia Mathia, West Champaran, community members have rallied for decisive action. According to the boy’s family, the teacher, identified as Umakant Ram, struck the child after the student offered a customary ‘pranam’. The incident, which allegedly occurred around 2 pm on a Friday, left the student injured and in need of emergency care at the Bairiya Primary Health Centre.

The victim’s relatives have lodged a grievance, claiming the teacher used excessive force without justification. In protest, parents and villagers gathered at the school’s entrance on Saturday, chanting slogans demanding a thorough, impartial probe by the Education Department. They specifically requested that the District Education Officer visit the school personally and that the offending teacher be terminated on the spot.

The demonstration caused a temporary suspension of regular school proceedings, creating a charged environment. Some students participating in the protest also raised concerns about alleged non‑academic activities within school premises, such as the preparation of biryani, mutton, fish, and the hosting of birthday parties – accusations that remain unverified.

The situation underscores the mounting pressure on Bihar’s education authorities to address disciplinary misconduct, safeguard students, and restore confidence in school governance.
