How Bihar will collect tolls: Fastag and digital payments only
The new toll framework mandates electronic payment methods exclusively. Cash transactions will no longer be accepted at any state‑highway booth. Drivers must use a Fastag or any government‑approved electronic tag to clear the toll.
Vehicles without a Fastag may be charged a higher fee, and overloaded trucks will incur additional penalties. Regular commuters will have the option to buy discounted passes – daily, monthly or multi‑trip – through the digital portal. The fast‑track system is intended to reduce congestion at booths and improve revenue traceability.
The administration has already linked the toll collection platform with the state’s transport database to monitor compliance and enforce penalties automatically.
