Bihar Snakebite: Man Dies, Wife Critical After Bite in Bed

A distressing snakebite incident in Gaya district of Bihar has resulted in the death of a man and left his wife in critical condition. The couple had been sleeping in their bed when a snake attacked them during the night.

At first, both husband and wife felt a sharp sensation on their hands and believed it was an ant bite. Their attention shifted only after they lit a torch and noticed a snake on the bed. The discovery led to chaos inside the home as relatives and villagers rushed to help.

The event took place in Prabhua village, which lies within the Paraiya police station limits. The deceased, Munna Prajapati, was 41 years old and earned a living as a mason.

With the death of Munna Prajapati, his family has lost its only breadwinner. The couple has four children, comprising three daughters and one son. The sudden tragedy, combined with their mother's hospitalization, has left the children facing a difficult situation.

The bite occurred at about 1 am. Munna Prajapati and his wife were resting in their home when a snake near the pillow bit Munna on the hand. Assuming it was an ant, he paid little attention. Soon after, his wife also felt a bite on her hand and suggested to her husband that an ant was on the bed. When they turned on a torch and looked, they saw the snake and understood that they had been bitten.

Family members and nearby villagers were called immediately. The couple was taken without delay to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital. After examining Munna Prajapati, doctors declared him dead. His wife is undergoing treatment under medical supervision, and her condition is considered serious. Her family is extremely anxious.

The furious villagers beat the snake to death.

Residents of the area are deeply saddened by the incident and have expressed concern for the family, which is now grappling with the loss of its main earning member.
