Amidst the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, political tensions have escalated following derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Modi’s mother. The BJP called for a ‘Bihar Bandh’ on Thursday to protest, while the opposition dismissed it as ineffective. An RJD spokesperson declared the bandh a complete failure, stating that the people of Bihar are well aware of the BJP’s attempts to create a false narrative against the RJD and Congress. Here’s a look at some of the major news from Bihar’s political scene.
**1. Hindustani Awam Morcha’s National Convention in Delhi:** The Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) held its national convention on September 4th at the Constitution Club in Delhi. The convention was inaugurated by party patron and former Chief Minister, along with Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. The event saw the participation of party leaders, including the National President Dr. Santosh Kumar Suman, MLAs, state presidents, national and state-level officials, and a large number of workers from across the country. Proposals were passed during the convention, addressing various issues such as condemnation of the India alliance for insulting the Prime Minister’s mother, preparations for the Bihar assembly elections, demands for government support to provide land for housing to every Dalit family, emphasis on implementing a uniform education system, commitment to contesting more seats in the Bihar elections, social equations and discussions, demands to make land available to landless families, Dalits, backward classes, extremely backward classes, and ex-servicemen, return and employment arrangements for laborers who have migrated from Bihar, discussions on old age pensions and social security schemes, and decisions to motivate workers to provide maximum benefits to the poor and the marginalized.
**2. Support from the Fortunate Future Foundation for AAP:** In the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, seven lakh members of the Fortunate Future Foundation, who were cheated in investments in PACL, will support the Aam Aadmi Party. This was announced by National President Surendra Prasad during a press conference held at the Aam Aadmi Party Bihar state office on Thursday. He stated that at the behest of PM Modi, the central government ordered PACL to be shut down without returning the investors’ money. However, the CBI, in an affidavit, has stated that Rs 49,100 crore of investors’ money is deposited with SEBI.
**3. NDA Women’s Wing ‘Bihar Bandh’ against ‘Mother’s’ Insult:** The five-hour Bihar Bandh by the NDA Joint Women’s Front was successful in response to the inappropriate comments and insults directed towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother at the Congress and RJD platforms in Darbhanga. BJP state president Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, MPs, MLAs, and NDA women’s wing officials and workers also took to the streets to protest. BJP women’s wing officials and workers gathered near Patna’s Income Tax Golambar early in the morning, holding flags. These women workers chanted slogans against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. A large number of female demonstrators arrived with banners and posters and sat in the middle of the road.
**4. PK Attacks Bihar Bandh, Says ‘No Impact’:** Jan Suraaj’s architect, Prashant Kishor, during his Bihar Badlav Yatra, addressed a public meeting at the Kinjar High School ground in Arwal’s Kurtha assembly constituency on Thursday. After addressing the public meeting, he spoke to reporters and dismissed the NDA’s Bihar Bandh as ineffective. He also targeted NDA leaders for the public’s inconvenience. Prashant Kishor said that the public is not with the BJP’s bandh and that it had no impact. The crowd that gathered at the Arwal public meeting proved this. Earlier, the Mahagathbandhan had also called for a Bihar Bandh. Jan Suraaj had held two public meetings that day, with over 20,000 people attending each. He added that many people faced problems during the Bihar Bandh, and vehicles were stopped. He stated that this is the character of these leaders and their way of leadership. However, the people of Bihar have now found an alternative, and the public wants change this time and wants to get rid of Lalu-Nitish and Modi. Regarding RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s statements, Prashant Kishor said that when Tejashwi talks about corruption and good governance, it is like a lion claiming to be vegetarian. These people themselves have been symbols of corruption.
**5. BJP Leaders Exposed, Running ‘Goonda Raj’ in Bihar:** CPI-ML state secretary Kunal said that the BJP’s actions have once again been exposed, and their actions have proven that goonda raj is running in Bihar. However, the good thing is that the public not only rejected the Bihar Bandh called by the BJP in many parts of the state but also directly opposed it. During the bandh, BJP members openly insulted former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and used abusive language against the leaders of the India alliance, displaying their old and familiar character. They stopped ambulances carrying women for delivery, assaulted footpath vendors in several places, and misbehaved and abused female teachers.
**6. BJP Leaders Join RJD:** In the presence of RJD State General Secretary Ranvijay Sahu, MLA Manoj Kumar Yadav, and other leaders at the RJD state office, Chandan Kumar Singh and Sonu Gupta resigned from the BJP and joined the RJD with their supporters. State spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed said that Chandan Singh and Sonu Gupta were honored with the RJD membership by handing over a RJD symbol scarf, cap, and a book written on Lalu Prasad’s tenure, ‘Gopalganj to Raisina’.
**7. Bihar Rejects BJP’s Bandh:** RJD state spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan said that the Bihar Bandh called by the NDA has been completely rejected by the general public of Bihar, and it has backfired for the NDA. The RJD spokesperson, calling the bandh a complete failure, said that the people of Bihar have understood the BJP’s conspiracy to create a narrative against the RJD and Congress based on baseless claims. The BJP had already realized this, which is why the duration of the bandh was reduced from 7 am to 12 noon, while the bandh usually lasts all day. Generally, no market and shop opens after 10 am. Offices and educational institutions remained open as usual today. The traffic situation also remained normal.
