Bihar Police Use Lathi Charge on Daroga Applicants at JP Golambar

Law enforcement in Bihar stepped in on Monday with a baton charge after a crowd of Daroga exam candidates tried to breach police barricades at Patna’s JP Golambar.

The gathering was sparked by the BPSSC’s decision to cancel the main written examination for 1,799 Daroga vacancies, a move that left thousands of hopefuls angry.

Candidates moved from JP Golambar toward the Dakbangla intersection, brandishing placards that accused the commission of negligence and demanded the exam be reinstated.

A heavy police presence, featuring both male and female officers, had sealed off the routes with concrete barriers and barbed wire. When protesters attempted to dismantle the obstacles, a scuffle ensued.

The police responded by swinging lathis, forcing many protesters to retreat, though a portion of the crowd refused to disperse and continued to push forward.

The demonstrators chanted satirical lines such as “do kachori ek samosa, BPSSC ka kya bharosa?” reflecting deep mistrust in the commission’s credibility.

Security was further reinforced at Dakbangla crossing with steel shields to block entry, showing the authorities’ resolve to contain the unrest.

The episode underscores the high stakes attached to government recruitment and the frustration of candidates who perceive policy shifts as a waste of their preparation and resources.
