Bihar to hunt for minerals across all 38 districts using satellite and 3D mapping
Bihar will search for minerals at more than 7,000 potential sites across all 38 districts using satellite data, geological surveys, geochemical tests and 3D mapping. Where needed, drilling will be carried out to assess the quantity and quality of deposits.

Bihar will search for minerals at more than 7,000 potential sites across all 38 districts using satellite data, geological surveys, geochemical tests and 3D mapping. Where needed, drilling will be carried out to assess the quantity and quality of deposits.
The exploration will focus on critical minerals, rare earth elements and base metals used in energy, electronics, transport and defence. Earlier studies have pointed to glauconite in Rohtas, vanadium-bearing minerals in Gaya, iron ore in Jamui, lithium in Nawada, and feldspar and silica sand in Banka and Munger.
If results are favourable, mineral blocks will move to auction and the necessary clearances, which could open up opportunities for mineral processing, related industries and jobs in the state.
