Alleged Placement Scam at Bihar Mega Job Fair Exposes Vulnerable Youth

Investigations into the Bihar job fair held from August 19 to 23 have uncovered a disturbing pattern of fraud. More than 112 companies participated, including Hekam India Private Ltd, a firm that was only registered in Delhi in October 2025 and claims to be a placement and HR agency. Several aspirants, like nurse Roopam Kumari, received appointment letters that led them to illegal hostels where they were detained, forced to work as call‑girls, and threatened with violence. The scam highlights a lack of vetting for companies listed on official platforms and raises questions about the state’s promise to generate one crore jobs and curb youth migration.
