Major Bust in Bihar: Weapons and Millions in Cash Found at Suspected Land Criminal’s Home
A large‑scale raid in Motihari district, Bihar, resulted in the discovery of considerable illegal wealth at the residence of self‑styled land mafia figure Rakesh Sharma. Three senior DSPs led the operation, which spanned four hours and involved a room‑by‑room search.
Authorities seized ₹27 lakh in cash, two assault rifles, two pistols, approximately 100 cartridges, and six bottles of branded liquor. Additionally, the team confiscated more than 65 land‑registration documents valued at over ₹15 crore on the open market.
The police are currently cross‑checking the documents and the weapons’ licensing details to expose any further illegal activity linked to the seized items. The crackdown reflects a broader effort to dismantle networks that manipulate land records and use force to occupy property.
Although the primary suspect fled the scene, his son, Sahil Sharma, was taken into custody and is being interrogated. The operation has heightened tension among other land mafias, prompting continuous raids in the hunt for the escaped leader.
