Bihar limits teacher smartphone use as department cracks down on social media reels

The new directive expands the ban on casual dress to cover mobile phone usage inside classrooms. Teachers may use smartphones only for biometric attendance or essential academic tasks. Recording or uploading videos, making reels, or any non‑educational activity on personal devices during school hours is expressly prohibited.

The department stresses that unchecked phone use hampers teaching time and erodes professional standards. Non‑compliance will be treated as a disciplinary breach and may result in written warnings or further action.
