Bihar Government to Implement FASTag-Based Tolls on Major Roads

In a push toward modernized infrastructure management, the Bihar government is preparing to introduce toll charges on 55 highways and 47 bridges. Each bridge selected for the tolling system is over 250 meters long. Before the implementation, a detailed traffic survey will assess the volume of vehicles to identify strategic spots for toll booths. The government plans to use FASTag-based digital systems to minimize congestion at these checkpoints. The cabinet has allocated 30.95 crore rupees for the initial development and hiring of consultancy firms to manage the rollout.
