Bihar Authorities Crack Down on Youths After Mandar Hill Assault Video

State officials in Bihar have intensified their crackdown on youth gangs after a video surfaced showing the harassment of a girl at Mandar Hill, a well‑known pilgrimage and tourist destination in Banka district. The clip, which quickly spread across social platforms, depicts a group of young men encircling the victim, using abusive language, brandishing a stick and a sandal, and threatening physical violence.

The incident has reignited concerns over the safety of women in public spaces across the state. In response, the Banka police, under the leadership of Inspector Pankaj Kumar Jha, filed a First Information Report (FIR) against six to seven unidentified individuals. The FIR includes charges of criminal intimidation, assault, and indecent behavior under the Indian Penal Code.

Investigators have begun a systematic identification process, reviewing the video frame‑by‑frame, interviewing local shopkeepers, and collecting statements from the victim’s companions. The police have also deployed additional patrols around Mandar Hill to deter further misconduct.

Recent high‑profile cases in Jamui and Samastipur, where authorities acted decisively against perpetrators, have set a precedent for swift legal action. Observers note that the current investigation could serve as a benchmark for handling similar incidents in the future, reinforcing the message that gender‑based violence will not be tolerated.

The public is urged to cooperate with law enforcement by providing any information that could aid in the identification and apprehension of the suspects. The ongoing probe underscores the state’s resolve to protect women and uphold law and order.
