Fear Grips Bhagalpur After Firing Near Railway Gate No. 6

Residents of Bhagalpur are living in fear after a shocking incident near the railway station, where a dispute over a mobile phone snatching turned into gunfire and knife attacks. The incident occurred on Sunday in the Mujahidpur police station area, and two people were seriously injured. The site is only about 100 meters from the police station, which has intensified concerns about public safety.

Local sources said the trouble started when a criminal snatched a passenger's mobile phone near Gate No. 6 of the railway station. When the victim cried out, people gathered and stopped the thief. The accused responded with abuse and threats, promising serious consequences, and then ran away. People assumed that the matter was over, but about half an hour later he returned with five to seven accomplices, all armed.

Firing in busy station area

According to the account given by witnesses and the injured, the attackers first opened fire in a lane outside Gate No. 6. They then fired again near the railway ticket counter and parking area. The sudden firing created chaos at the station, and passengers and shopkeepers scrambled to find shelter. The assailants also attacked with sharp weapons. Mohammad Meraj was shot in the left hand, while Mohammad Aamir was seriously hurt in a knife attack. Both men have been admitted to Bhagalpur Sadar Hospital.

Family members of the injured have accused Aamir, Ali, Tarik and five to seven others, all linked to Shahbaz Nagar Kamesi, of carrying out the attack. They have also said the accused are connected to the notorious Pasa gang. Police have not yet confirmed any such association and say the claim will be examined during the investigation.

Police are working to identify the accused and arrest them, with raids underway based on statements from the injured. The brazen attack so close to a police station has raised serious questions about the security situation in the area, and residents are demanding stronger patrolling and quick action.
