Authorities probe large‑scale alcohol smuggling after Araria truck accident

Police officials suspect that the consignment originated from smuggling routes passing through Assam or West Bengal, destined for markets in Araria, Purnia and other districts of the Seemanchal region. Authorities believe the truck used hidden compartments to conceal the liquor.

After the crash, the driver and the hired hauler fled the scene. The Raniganj police team seized the remaining bottles, took the damaged vehicle into custody and launched a probe under the Bihar Prohibition Act and the Food and Drug Control Act. Investigators are tracing the registration details to locate the owner and any associated smuggling network.
