Arms Seizure Links Former Minister to Mujffarpur Shelter Home Scandal

A CBI raid on the home of former Bihar minister Manju Verma resulted in the confiscation of a significant quantity of firearms, strengthening the prosecution’s claim that she was connected to the Mujffarpur shelter home case. The investigation revealed that her husband Chandrashekhar maintained close ties with Brajesh Thakur, the chief accused in the shelter home abuse network.

Thakur’s organization, Seva Sankalp evam Vikas Samiti, operated a shelter home in Mujffarpur where multiple girls were allegedly subjected to sexual exploitation. The Special Court in Delhi had earlier convicted 19 individuals linked to the scandal, including Thakur himself.

The arms discovery provided a tangible link between the political figure and the criminal enterprise, prompting the Begusarai court to impose a seven‑year rigorous imprisonment term on both Verma and her husband.
