Early Morning Train Accident Near Ara: Engine and Two Coaches Derail, No Injuries

The Mahendra Express, bound for New Delhi, suffered a serious mishap shortly after departing Ara railway station on Sunday. The train's engine and the two coaches directly coupled to it—an SLR and an H‑1—left the rails near the western ghumti at kilometre 593/9A.

Witnesses said the train moved only a few metres beyond the platform before the derailment occurred. Because the train was travelling at a crawl, the impact was limited and all passengers emerged unharmed.

Officials from the Danapur railway division, including senior officers and technical personnel, rushed to the location. Their duties involved ensuring passenger safety, clearing the derailed vehicles and conducting an initial assessment of the track condition.

Operations on the Delhi‑Howrah main line were temporarily suspended, affecting several scheduled services until the line was cleared and inspected for any further defects.
